Even though the Veterans Administration has been sued successfully on 4
different occasions on the issue of Retroactive benefits to widows and
disabled Vietnam Veterans, they continue to stall and take an outrageous
amount of time to get anything done. The last judge denied interest
payments on the awards and that is the problem. When one owes the
Government they are the first ones to want to charge penalties and interest
on the money. The judge had stated that there was no provision in the law
for interest on these awards. Hey Judge, how about a little common sense
or common sense reading of the law. If the government can charge it, they
can pay it. Although the judge was rather disturbed with the VA for
ignoring previous lawsuits and trying to undermine the decisions, he
played right along with them by his stand on interest. There is no
Government Agency that is more incompetent than the Veterans
Administration. Many Veterans have died while waiting for benefits that
Congress provided to them. It often takes more years to get relief than
the number of years served. So the insult to Veterans is that not only
did they waste four years of their life in service in the military, but
after the government lied to them and exposed them to cancer, they now
have to serve another 4 to five years while the incompetent VA tries to
stall decisions that for the most part should never take over 6 months in
total.
That is absolutely why the Government should be FORCED to pay these
Veterans interest on the awards. Too many Veterans have nothing but the
cancer that the government provided. Making them wait three, four or
five years just to get the compensation they are due is an outrage. And
if the Congress or the Bush Administration cared at all about Veterans
they would approve interest payments on the awards from the time they
should have been paid. This would end the Sorry practice of taking forever
to handle a claim, while the Veterans dies. Then at least the wait would
be without the government hurting the Veterans even more as the Veterans
have to borrow money to live on.

to 243,000 veterans telling them that if they owe the government money
they will start taking it out of their Social Security checks. This would
not be so terrible except that too many Veterans may have money coming
from Vietnam Compensation claims that the government is doing nothing to
help. And as incompetent as the VA is, the money may not even be owed in
reality. I had the same problem with them. They made an error on posting
a payment and like with everything else when you write them to correct the
problem it just gets worse. In my case as well, if they hadn’t taken
forever to process my claim I wouldn’t have owed the money at all. They
too were going to charge penalties and interest and attach any other thing
they could until I finally got some partial approval of my claim. But I
had to have others intercede as they paid no attention to my letters until
congressmen were finally involved and this was all for about $40 that they
incorrectly posted. So I find it appalling that they are now threatening
these Veterans to attach their Social Security checks to get their money
now when some of these same people have been waiting years to get the VA
benefits they should have had.
For any of you people that voted for Bush. Just look at what he has done
to Veterans and what he continues to do to them while he attempts to give
all the wealth to Big Business and his cronies. How outrageous. It is
time to throw all of these Congressmen that lie to your face about
Veterans benefits out on their ears. Petition them for recalls. Then
they will maybe have to run twice in the next couple of years. We need
more independents in Congress and then we can impeach.

From 1985 forward widows and disabled Veterans have had to take the Veterans
Administration to court to force them to pay the compensation due for the
disabled and their widows. The judge in the case just recently chastised
the VA for their outrageous attempts to avoid paying these claims. The
judge the made the mistake of not including interest payments. These same
people have been without the awards for 15 years while some have been
getting the awards all that time. There is no question that not allowing
interest is unfair and encourages the VA to drag their feet while women,
children and families of Veterans suffer. Feel free to send any copies of
that letter or the post.

In 6 months what has the Bush administration done to cause this problem? You
would have a lot more credibility if you quit your partisan attackas and
focused on the reall issues and causes. The problem is much older and larger
than the newly minted Bush administration, the problem is with the entire VA
system. It has been a problem since the 1960s and has only gotten worse in
the 35 or so years since. The VA should be abolished and the money used to
purchase medical insurance and other programs from the private sector (that
could manage and distribute the funds more effectively) and resolve issues
faster.

Stupid part of rant deleted. If these folks owe money they should pay it, it
is no different for them or for anyone else that owes money to the
government. I may have won the Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes, but I
still have to pay my obligations rather than tell people to wait for the big
check to arrive.

What has he done in 6 months against veterans Lantz? What wealth has been
delivered to Big Business and his cronies? Name the program, name the
policy, name anything where government funds are being used for such
outrageousness.
Did you miss the point that the guy is under arrest and, if found mentally
competent, will stand trial? Sounds to me as though the system is working.

Unfortuantely the left wing extremist media sets the agenda. And they
have decided that racism is a one-way street. The overwhelming majority
of racist attacks are black on white, but the media doesn’t want you to

Those who dragged the black man to death in TX (I believe the man’s name
was Byrd) were arrested and convicted. When Mr. Sheppard, a gay man in
Wyoming (i think) was beat to death his attackers too were prosocuted and
convicted.
These crimes too were punished UNDER EXISTING LAW, but in each case
there were calls by liberal organizations for MORE LAWS to keep these "hate
crimes" from happening.
The NAA(L)CP even ran a commercial durring the last election intimating
that such additional legislation was necissary to prevent future crimes, and
that not passing new "hate crimes" laws was tantamount to dragging Mr. Byrd
to death again.
Can you explain to me how people that clearly violated the law as it
stands would have been stopped by special "hate crime" laws?

Hate crime is different. Its one thing to murder someone during a robbery, but
its entirely a whole different ball game when its because you are black, or
mexican or jewish or white. Some states still do not have hate crime laws…
Hate crimes are misunderstood by a lot of folks If I assault you simply
because you are black, do you understand that the assault wouldnt have happened
if you had been white? The race was the reason…or the religion (or lack
of)….or the sexual preference…. etc. You shouldnt be a victim of crime for
no other reason than the color of your skin, the choice of your God or which

Well golly gee, forgive me if I dont write it off as racial bias right away and
would rather wait for more information on the case…btw, genius, I was

such. Again, a psychiatric exam was requested why? Do they do that for all
persons charged with a hate crime? Nope, didnt think so. There is a
difference between someone who has a mental health issue which includes some
percieved problems with other races and someone who just hates other races.

And if I rob a bank for the money, that’s the reason I rob the bank. If
they didn’t have any money there then the crime would not have happened.
The point is that a crime took place, not the reason.
If my defense for the bank robbery is that I needed money makes no
difference to the law then if I did it just because I enjoyed it.
If you beat someone to a pulp or even to death, isn’t the crime itself
worthy of harsh punishment regardless of the motive?
If I kill my wife, does it make a difference whether I did it because
she cheated on me, or I wanted to collect her insurance, or because I lost
my job and wanted to take it out on someone?
Motive may be important to the prosocution to establish the guilt of the
accused, it doesn’t need to enter into the punishment.

First, you’re suggesting that they "rant against whitee" and confuse this
with lobbying for various social programs. They are not the same thing.
Perhaps your reason for confusing the two is to make some kind of
argument that those who lobby for social programs also deliver hateful
