I think they like me too much. I certainly hope they do. They invited me to
their ng. If they tell me to go I will. They would not like a suburban
censorship kook such as yourself. They have taken part in our little
debate. Where is this spam you were talking about? Put up or shut up.
Well us.config has me for life then and news.admin.censorship was an
invite. Are you saying I am not allowed to post to those NGs? Henrietta you
tried to annoy me and you hit the bullseye so you can hardly complain about
it.
Did you think that just maybe these guys come from a culture with a zero
toleration for mendacious shit? Well we do and I for my part am not the
forgiving type. Not this side of the year 2050. I will live up to that. Of
that you can be very certain.

Um, while Steve doesn’t own news.admin.censorship, and despite a divergence
between censorship in a colloquial sense that he uses and censorship in a
more legalistic sense, it seems reasonable to discuss (but not dictate) this
there. The other news.admin.* groups have been snipped.
I think this has been good cause kidnapped by causehounds, to a certain
extent. A couple of days ago, I asked a former colleague at a domestic
violence agency what there was to this issue. It’s been going on forever;
the black community has always known about it. But as the woman who’s a
prisoner’s wife said, it’s not the only problem. A prisoner’s wife in
Virginia said her husband, a convicted marijuana dealer, reported drug sales
by guards were endemic (white guy in this case).
My suspicions are that this goes on, but not at the rates we’ve been hearing
from the European activists. I would want to talk to a friend whose sister
is a prison librarian before making further comments, but that librarian was
concerned about being moved to work with male prisoners. Perhaps this is
something where gender/sex is a legitimate work qualification? Don’t want
to comment further, other than I’ve heard from someone I trust to be
level-headed that abuse of women prisoners by male guards has "been going on
forever."
On the other hand, someone else I trust, David Formosa, said that the
European activists are bordering on excessive reposting. Slow down, folks.
Alienating those you’re trying to organize isn’t good tactics.

Nope. I’ve lurked in alt.thebird.copwatch — this is typical of their
issues, actually.
In general, threats or extortion tend to put people off. No cause, however
just, can get around certain human requirements — if you don’t have the
power to shoot people, you’ve got to persuade them.

Criminality is rife amongst COs. Politiciand know this. Didn’t 200 get
arrested in one pop for organized crime? Was it on TV?

I think even US activists are saying that we are getting upset merely
at the tip of the iceberg and that we need to take on board that it is
much worse than we have previously entertained. When europeans say it
is out of control and with complete impunity and getting worse they
are downsizing it. America is a unique problem.
The worldwide abuses need american money. HROs have for years been
reluctant to confront what couldn’t be confronted. This hypocritical
state of affairs is being ended as much by localized action on the
part of the USDOJ as by the fact China and Pakistan and India are
laughing at the HROs. If the USA is the biggest perpetrator of this
genre of human rigts abuse it needs stated if only for HROs to retain
credibility.

America really is the "known" world leader in the sexual abuse of
female prisoners department. Obviously the Sudanese camps and Burmese
camps are probably but *not* always worse.
That is how bad the USA is. In some institutions it is very probable
that the vast majority of guards are abusers or facilitators because
the atrocitiers are simply too gruesome and they are perpetrated
openly for the entertainment of the mass ranks of corrections
officers.
It is a widely adopted culture. It is gross even by Burmese stadards.
That is how bad a lot of it is. The USA is certainly a world leader in
the sexual abuse of women prisoners and rightly deserves to be
regarded as one of the really bad guys.
It is a huge international issue as the other bad guys are not going
to let it rest. The good guys want it all fixed and that in their eyes
is impossible if the USA is the worst offender.

We are already organized and the right wing racists don’t care about
the issue and we are stayinng on us.politics. It is our group in our
eyes. We are here for good. We’ll be more diplomatic now that
Henrietta has utterly discredited herself. There is no need to be
confrontational now the silly old dear has been found to have feet of
shit.

We actually are merely trying to exist on the us.* hierarchy. We were
censorsed from day one. There is a wide range of issues we’ve not even
started on yet. Thanks for the reply in anycase the intelligent ones
(in my opinion) are so few and far between.
